Everydays people concern is the preservation of the environment.
Among others, one of the reasons is the oil spillage. The oil waste can have several origins:
Lubricant oils
Industrial oils
Cooling oils
Pipe oil leaks
Etc.
During the last years many efforts were made to solve this problem.
An innovative device used to collect the oil, before it starts to damage the environment, is the oil skimmer with a TRANSBANDA 18500 stainless steel conveyor belt.
It consists of a vertical conveyor with the steel belt operating vertically. Due to the property of the oil to stick to metallic surfaces, a moving steel belt can be used to collect the spilled oil.
By surface tension, the floating oil sticks to the stainless steel belt. The principle is similar to when the oil level of a car is checked.
The lower drum of the conveyor is placed so that the steel belt is approximately 30 mm under the surface level. The angle of inclination of the conveyor should not be smaller than 30º to allow the water drops to return.
The oil skimmers are manufactured in different widths from 200 to 500 mm and in lengths suitable for recollection. For special apllications, these oil skimmers can be built in wider widths.
